Week 4 : RSS Feeds

I spent a lot of time searching for what I wanted to RSS feed. I went to many book-related sites that did not have an RSS feed connection, like Book Slut, and Carol Hurst's Children's Lit site. I finally found some sites that work for me. Reading Rants, a great teen book site, Roger Sutton's blog, and Nancy Pearl's Book Lust are now in my Sage Reader (through Firefox). And I am SO looking forward to receiving all the late, breaking news from the Boston Red Sox as well. I also chose Technorati because I am interested in finding out more about them, and Salon.com for headline news. When my director gets mad at me for spending so much time now at my computer, I will blame Mara and the 23 things!

PS. Once I found the sites I wanted, using Firefox Sage Reader was really easy. Just a click of a button.

Week two, #1: Snowy day and kids in the library

We have about 2 feet of new snow since Wednesday. Huge snow drifts surround the library. When the school bell rings, kids pile out of the school doors on the other side of our parking lot and head straight for the 12 foot hills made by the plows. After about 20 minutes of climbing, sliding, and throwing snowballs, they all head in to the library. Our back hallway becomes a dumping ground of hats, mittens, parkas, boots, backpacks, school projects, and melting snow.
Today being Friday, and an afternoon ski day for the entire school, kids will arrive a little later with skiis, snowboards, and skates to add to the decor. We are lucky at the Stowe Free Library to have a relatively large back entryway, however, access in and out of the building becomes prohibitive with all the stuff. Does anyone else out there have this problem? We have coat and backpack hooks on a rack but no one uses them. The amount of stuff is crazy!!
